Mrs. Shally Gupta was born into a reputed trading family in Ambala City. She received a bachelor’s degree from MDSD Girls’ College, Ambala City, and a master’s in English from Kurukshetra University. In 1995, she married Dr. Ashawant Gupta, and they lived in California, USA, for a couple of years before returning to their hometown. They now live in an extended joint family with uncles, aunts, cousins, and their families.
They have two children:
* Abheepsa, who earned her Bachelor of Technology in Biotech Engineering from Ambala College of Engineering and Applied Research (ACE), also holds an M.S. in Stem Cell Biology from the University of Minnesota, USA. After working for a biotech company in California for a couple of years, she returned to India to join the family business.
* Samarpan, who completed his Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing with a specialized track in Advertising Strategies at Texas A&M University, USA, also holds an M.S. in Marketing Analytics from the University of Rochester, New York, USA. He has returned to India and is actively involved in the family business.
Mrs. Gupta, along with her children, keenly participates in various social service projects. From 2011 to 2015, she was actively involved in the India Against Corruption movement. She also assists her husband in managing the Dr. Jai Dev Memorial Rotary Ambala Hospital (formerly Rotary Ambala Cancer and General Hospital).
As a past president of the Inner Wheel Club Ambala, Mrs. Gupta was honored as a Golden President of the District. One of her key passion projects is improving educational standards in local government schools, where she regularly devotes her time. Additionally, as the past president of Sanskriti Garima Manch (SGM), she has worked to instill moral values—such as honesty, respect, compassion, and responsibility—in young students through camps, workshops, storytelling, and community service. She also tutors over 20 underprivileged students at her home every evening.
As Director of the Pavitradham Rotary School for the Deaf, Mrs. Gupta has learned basic sign language and teaches alphabets and numbers to hearing-impaired children.
